I typically enjoy seeing people with opposing thoughts converse with one another, as a reminder to myself that we all think differently. Sometimes it is refreshing to see debates and dialogue happening. That was yesteryear, though. However, it can become unhealthy, both mentally and emotionally, to continuously engage with some people's thoughts.
I will be unfriending, unfollowing, and blocking a lot of people throughout social media...and life, if need be (see quote at top).
I'm not sure a lot of us understand the repercussions of this individual becoming our elected president, or what it says about the people who voted for him.
It says that over 60 million, let's add emphasis, SIXTY MILLION people supported a candidate who openly has racist, sexist, misogynistic, ableist, xenophobic, classist, homophobic, and transphobic beliefs. They may not personally agree with everything he has said, but in essence they justified it and/or looked past it.Problematic.
You know the worst part, though? People who are placed in the oppressed or marginalized groups that are heavily effected, are told to suck it up. Like their fear for unsafety is unwarranted. This isn't a paper cut, this is life or death for a lot of us.
Take care of yourself and those around you. Be safe my people.
